Fully Compliant With Healthcare Flooring Requirements

The current NHS standard for healthcare flooring is HBN 00-10 Part A, which replaced the earlier HTM 61 guidance. It sets out slip resistance, cleanability and durability requirements for flooring across clinical and non-clinical areas, and it’s the standard we work to on every NHS project we take on.

For a GP surgery or clinic, that typically means a sheet vinyl system rather than carpet in clinical or treatment areas. Sheet vinyl is non-porous, easy to disinfect and doesn’t give bacteria anywhere to take hold, unlike carpet.

Quality Flooring for Healthcare Environments

Depending on the area within the healthcare environment, a different type of floor covering will be needed. We offer a wide range of smooth vinyls and safety vinyls suited to healthcare use, available in a variety of styles, colours and finishes.

One of the most important considerations for healthcare flooring is that it must be easy to clean and resistant to harbouring bacteria, which is why carpet isn’t used in clinical or treatment areas. We commonly replace carpet in GP surgeries with vinyl fitted capped and coved, taking the sheet up the wall by around 100mm to create a fully watertight, easy-to-clean finish.

Where impact resistance or acoustic performance matter, such as busy hospital corridors or service areas, our rubber flooring range is also worth considering alongside standard safety vinyls.
