Indoor Play Centre in Finchley, North London

Brief

This children’s indoor play centre is located in North London.

The large activity centre got in contact with us when they wanted to update the flooring throughout the venue.

Our estimator visited the venue, in order to establish the needs of the job, measure the area and get a feel for the type of look the customer was trying to achieve.

Process

After various discussions, we welcomed the owner to our office where we have an extensive library of samples. We reviewed options with the customer and they decided to go with a combination of Forbo Allura Flex 1mm in white wash elegant oak and Gradus Latour 2 carpet tiles in wansdyke. To cope with the busy entranceway and to trap as much dirt and moisture before entry, they chose Coral Classic matting in raven.

These Gradus carpet tiles were chosen to ensure a soft feel around the play area and the Forbo Allura Flex 1mm was chosen to maintain a hygienic and easily cleanable area throughout the rest of the venue. The combination of these products was perfect for the space as they created a seamless transition due to their similar heights and would therefore, prevent any trip hazards.

Forbo Allura Flex 1mm has a 5 mm total thickness, incorporating a 1 mm wear layer. For large installations, like this job, the product is designed to be installed on tackifier rather than be fully adhered to the subfloor to allow flexibility and a more environmentally friendly solution.

Gradus Latour 2 is a solution-dyed nylon carpet tile range with a total thickness of 5.5mm. It is constructed of a tufted loop pile and contains 75% recycled material.

Coral Classic is a 9mm thick entrance matting. It ensures maximum moisture absorption and scrapes off dirt. It is suitable for the heaviest commercial use.

On commencing the job, we uplifted the previous multi-coloured carpet tiles which had been fitted throughout the venue.

Due to the nature of the products chosen, the subfloor required only patch repairing. Once the subfloor was patch repaired, the flooring products were then fitted in their respective areas.
