Hotel in Oxfordshire

Brief

This popular hotel chain, who has been a customer of ours for over 10 years, contacted us again when they needed new flooring throughout different areas in their hotel in Oxford.

Set in beautiful grounds, this hotel is a popular wedding and event venue, so it is important to maintain, modernise and refresh the areas.

Process

Already familiar with the hotel, our estimator visited the site to discuss what they were looking to achieve this time.

The hotel’s goal was to give several areas a more neutral, consistent feel, so we were asked to install new flooring in multiple bedrooms, corridors, the restaurant, the bar, and the function room.

A 100% wool blend carpet from Ulster was sourced. Ulster offer high quality, luxurious axminster, wilton and loop carpets. In 2022, they received their second Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen during her Platinum Jubilee year demonstrating unparalleled levels of quality, excellence and craftmanship.

Due to it being a very high traffic area, the carpet has been fitted on underlay using the double-stick carpet method, meaning the underlay and the carpet are both glued down to improve appearance retention and to provide greater dimensional stability.

The customer chose to use Polyflor Expona Control for a small buffet area in their main restaurant, which needed a coat of primer and latex, prior to installation.

Polyflor Expona Control PUR is a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) product with a thickness of 2.5mm incorporating a 0.7mm wear layer. It provides sustainable slip resistance and is ideal for use in very heavy commercial areas such as restaurants and supermarkets.

Since it was a working hotel, we scheduled the installation at times that would cause the least disruption and noise for the guests.
