Brief

The popular entertainment venue contacted us when they needed to update the flooring in their large concession stand.

After initial discussions, our estimator visited the site to discuss and understand the needs of this well-used area. This included the need for the job to be done out of normal working hours, over a series of nights, to allow no disruption to business.

It was agreed that a safety flooring with non-slip properties would be most suited, due to the risk of food and liquid being spilt on the floor. They expressed a preference to have similar flooring to their existing flooring, so we provided the venue with various samples in an attempt to get a close match. They decided to go with Altro Classic in Walnut.

Altro Classic is a heavy-duty vinyl which is typically used in serveries and behind bars. It has a 2.5mm thickness and wear layer and scores a PTV of > 45 (pendulum test) with a slip rating of R11.

Process

On commencement of the job, we uplifted the existing flooring to enable us to prime and latex the area, to create a smooth surface for the new flooring to be laid. We used fast-track latex to enable the cinema to open the next morning and for the area to be used pending the vinyl installation.

The following evening, on returning to the job, we fitted the Altro Classic in Walnut on the newly prepared subfloor. This involved welding to the joins, and coving to the front of the ice cream stand.

The customer was delighted with the job, as the stand was functional during their working hours so there was no disruption to business.

Result

The customer was pleased that the job was completed to a high standard, and ready in the morning as to not disrupt any buisness.

Brief

Some months later, the venue contacted us again when they required new matting for the main entranceway.

Our estimator visited the venue, in order to establish the requirements from the job and measure the area.

There had been splitting in the main walkway, meaning there was some urgency in getting it replaced.

The customer again, wanted a like for like product, and did not want it to disrupt visitors’ ability to come to the venue.

On reviewing samples, they decided to go with a Heckmondwike Hippo in Anthracite and we decided the job would be done early morning to allow the cinema to open at usual hours.

Heckmondwike Hippo is a heavy contract entrance carpet, used extensively in education and public sector buildings and specifically designed for entrance areas.

On beginning the job, we uplifted the existing matting.

Once this was uplifted, we fitted the new entrance matting.
