At Meadee Flooring we supply and install a vast array of products to care spaces, including residential homes, nursing homes, sheltered accommodation, specialist homes, and others. We have installed various floor coverings to a variety of spaces, such as:
- Corridors
- Wet rooms/shower rooms
- Bathrooms
- Bedrooms
- Communal lounges
- Staircases
- Entrance ways
- Kitchens
- Laundry rooms
- Dining halls
- And many more!
The floor coverings we often install at care homes are sheet vinyl products as they are easy to clean, impervious to water and offer a variety of designs. In saying that, we still have many customers ask us for carpets and vinyl tiles which we install for them on a regular basis.

What is care home flooring?
Care Home flooring is designed to be durable and give a homely feel to residents. This typically includes the floor having a non-porous surface to support easier cleaning and to prevent spread of bacteria. Durability is also an important factor, as healthcare facilities like care homes have high foot traffic and use heavy equipment.
Care home floors must also be dementia friendly. This means avoiding highly speckled or very shiny floors. A plain or simple design is recommended as per the Dementia Services Design Centre.
At Meadee Flooring, we can help you find a suitable floorcovering that works well for everyone. If you’d like more information on care home flooring or our services, don’t hesitate to contact our team and we’ll be happy to help!
Flexible Service Options
Quality Care Home Flooring Solutions
We offer specialist floor covering options such as acoustic and cushioned back vinyls. These help to reduce impact noise such as footsteps or banging from above or below; a very useful feature in a care environment based over multiple floors. A popular choice for care homes looking for an acoustic floor covering is Polyflor Wood Fx Acoustix, this product has an impact sound reduction of 19dB.
As well as vinyl floor coverings, we also supply and install gel back carpets. These have a built in ‘gel back’ which acts as an underlay and a water-resistant layer. This means that these types of carpets are very durable and can withstand spills, whilst still giving a homely feel. Forbo’s Flotex, for example, is a hybrid between carpet and vinyl, meaning it has a soft top layer but it is completely waterproof. This makes it comfortable, safe and a good hygienic option.

Care Home Flooring FAQs
What flooring would you recommend for a care home?
Usually, we would recommend a sheet vinyl product, maybe with an acoustic backing. We say this because sheet vinyl is waterproof, making any spills easy to clean. It also comes in many different designs and styles, so you’re sure to find a style that suits your space!
Can I have carpet in my care home?
Yes, you can. There are many carpet options available for care spaces with features such as impervious backings and improved stain resistance.
How long will the area be out of action while you lay new flooring?
How long the area will be out of action depends on the type of flooring we’re fitting and the size of the room(s). We always endeavour to complete installation as quickly as possible to minimise downtime to you and your residents and we work with you to come up with a schedule of works that suits you. Usually, carpets are the quickest to fit as they often require less prep than vinyl flooring.
What Types of Flooring for Care Homes Do You Offer?
We offer a wide range of care home flooring solutions that can be used across various facilities and applications. Our options include:
- Safety flooring for care homes
- Wet room flooring

…and more. Whatever your needs may be, you can rest assured that we’ll provide the best possible solution.
